Nanã Buruku
Our first goddess from African mythology is named Nanã Buruku. She receives a fine Coconut Cream Ale.
As the fourth goddess of our African mythology series, Oshun is a classic Hefeweizen with a pronounced banana aroma.
For the finale, everything flows together at the river of Oshun. She is the radiant goddess of love, beauty, and diplomacy – but beware: behind her shining mirror hides an imperious, sometimes treacherous nature.
In the myths, she is the rival of her own sister Obba (our Red Ale). The legends tell how Oshun, with sweet words and cunning, tricked Obba into cutting off her own ear to serve it to their shared husband Shango as a supposed delicacy. A “proof of love” that ended in disaster for Obba and only filled Shango with disgust. Thus, Oshun teaches us: beauty and love can also be a dangerous weapon.
While the story between the sisters has a bitter aftertaste, with this beer we focus entirely on the seductive, sweet side of the goddess. Her color is bright yellow, which is why only a classic Hefeweizen does justice to her splendor.
We wanted to capture the taste of the tropics – entirely without fruit, just through the magic of brewing. The goal was pure banana.
To push this aroma to the limit, we tweaked the malt dial and increased the proportion of wheat malt to an almost diabolical 66.6%. This amount not only ensures a fantastic head of foam, but also tickles a banana explosion out of the yeast. A beer so intense and bewitching that – just like Oshun – it is hard to resist.
I am the manifestation of the river. What I want will happen!
