Teutates
The first deity from our Celtic mythology series is Teutates, an Amber Ale with spelt malt and refined with linden blossoms.
The fourth and final deity from our Celtic mythology series is the mystical Morrígan, a Dark Lager with spelt malt. Fine chocolate and roasted notes, soft in body, mild in the finish, similar to a Schwarzbier.
When the nights are longest and the world freezes in cold, the circle closes at the winter solstice. Now Morrígan, the “Great Queen”, rules.
She is a figure full of mysteries, a seer of fate, and the goddess of sovereignty. In our animal series, she is represented by the raven. Like a black shadow, she glides over the battlefields of history and decides between victory or downfall.
But Morrígan is not only death; she is transformation. She is the deep, dark earth in which life rests before it awakens anew. She connects the king with the land and weaves the fate of the people anew with her prophecies.
For the deepest darkness of the year and the mysterious raven goddess, we dared a premiere: Our very first Dark Lager.
In this brew too, the Celtic spelt malt forms the backbone, but here it shows its darkest side. The beer lies in the glass as dark and shiny as a raven’s plumage.
In terms of taste, it is a revelation of silence: It is a velvety, soft lager that is reminiscent of a classic Schwarzbier, but receives a special mildness from the spelt. Fine chocolate and roasted notes dominate the drink without being bitter. It is a beer that is not loud, but mysterious and profound – just like the Morrígan herself. A worthy conclusion to our Celtic cycle.
I am the raven on your shoulder, reminding you of your fate.
