Nanã Buruku
Our first goddess from African mythology is named Nanã Buruku. She receives a fine Coconut Cream Ale.
Our Osiris concludes the Egyptian mythology series and is simultaneously the first Witbier of our brewery.
The circle closes with the king himself: Osiris. His story is the centerpiece of Egyptian mythology and connects life and death in an eternal way. He once ruled as the god of fertility and agriculture over a flourishing Egypt. But killed through betrayal, his dismembered body was put back together by Anubis – the very first mummification in history.
Thus, Osiris rose from the god of vegetation to the ruler of the realm of the dead. But he is no dark lord; he symbolizes resurrection and the eternal cycle of nature. Like the grain that dies in the field to give new life as bread (and beer!), Osiris stands for hope and renewal.
For the god who once made the grain grow before he ruled the underworld, we chose a style that simply bursts with life and freshness: Our very first Belgian Witbier.
In our tradition of honoring Egyptian agriculture, flaked wheat plays the lead role here. They give the beer a pale color and a wonderful, soft haze – almost like the fertile mud of the Nile that brings life.
We refined this Witbier very classically with orange peel and coriander seeds. The result is an incredibly refreshing, sparkling beer with fine citrus notes. It is the perfect companion for hot summer days and a liquid tribute to life itself. A brew that proves: Death is only the beginning of something new.
My time as the god of fertility is over. Now my duties lie in the court of the dead.
