Hygieia

Back to Beers

The Legend

We dedicate our first fruit beer to the Greek goddess of health, Hygieia. Refined with raspberries, this beer is perfect for hot summer days!

When we speak of “hygiene” today, we unconsciously invoke her name: Hygieia, the radiant goddess of health. Originally worshipped as an independent healing deity in Athens, she found her firm place on Mount Olympus as the daughter of Asclepius, the god of medicine.

Her significance was so immense that she was invoked as a witness in the famous “Hippocratic Oath” right after Apollo and her father – a patron saint for all who dedicated themselves to healing, and to this day the guardian of pharmacists.

She is often depicted feeding a snake from a bowl or holding a cornucopia full of fruit in her arms. An image that has symbolic power: The snake as a sign of renewal (and part of our own logo) and the fruits as a source of vitality.

The Beer

Inspired by the depictions of Hygieia with her cornucopia, we decided to take the “bowl of health” literally. For her, we brewed a Fruit Pale Ale that simply bursts with vitality.

Real raspberries play the leading role here. They not only give the beer a seductive, bright red color, but also an incomparably fruity aroma.

The base is formed by a crisp Pale Ale that perfectly absorbs the sweetness and acidity of the berries. A sip that is so refreshing that one could almost believe it was prescribed directly by the goddess of health herself. To your health – in the truest sense of the word!

With my name, I stand for everything that serves your health. My snake also symbolizes renewal, rejuvenation, and life!
