With our Black Ale we want to mix the dark, strong characteristics of a Stout with the bright, refreshing flavors of a Pale Ale.
Our Winter Ale is perfect for the cold season. Refined with cinnamon, oranges, and cloves, it is a true winter festival beer!
When snow covers the peaks and the wolves howl, Skaði rules. She is not one of the refined Aesir goddesses, but a Jötunn – a giantess from arguably the oldest and wildest lineage in Norse mythology.
Her story is shaped by cold, revenge, and irrepressible pride. After the Aesir killed her father Þjazi, she demanded satisfaction. As part of the reparation, she was offered marriage to a god. She chose Njörðr, the god of the sea, but the happiness did not last long. It was a love between two worlds that did not come together: Njörðr yearned for the sound of the waves and the cry of the seagulls, while Skaði’s heart beat for the silence of the snow-covered mountains and the wild hunt in the forests.
She eventually returned to her icy homeland, where she hunts through the forests on skis. Some even say the name “Scandinavia” is derived in her honor – a land as rugged, cold, and beautiful as the goddess herself.
When Skaði blows her cold breath across the land, something is needed that warms heart and soul. Our Winter Ale is exactly this warming companion for the dark days.
Fitting for the season, we didn’t just brew this beer, but refined it. It is a liquid homage to winter: Reddish and mysterious in the glass, it unfolds a festive symphony with the first sip. We refined it with cinnamon, juicy oranges, and cloves.
These spices not only bring the taste of Christmas and cozy firesides into your glass, but also offer the perfect contrast to the bitter cold outside. A beer as strong as a giantess and yet so harmonious and gentle that it might even have united Njörðr and Skaði at a table for a moment.
Winter is my time. Always with me are bow, arrow, and my faithful wolves. I love the mountains much more than the sea.
